President, vice president should not campaign

Not only is it disappointing that the Republicans and Democrats are slinging both personal and professional accusations at each other - many of which I think could be partially or wholly substantiated on both sides - but why are the president and vice president joining the fray?

They were chosen to oversee the safety and welfare of our country and paid a great deal to do so with a salary, lifelong protection, and a generous pension. While I understand party loyalty, I do not approve of their being absent from their primary responsibilities in order to promote the candidates of their party. They should be above that.

If the instances of accusations of illegal activities by various departments of the government prove to be true, I think we would need to look to the very top of the government for that level of authorization, i.e. the buck stops (and perhaps starts) here.
