More thought needed on school building plan
In response to an Oct. 26 letter in the Fencepost:
I have been a 45-year resident in the Palatine downtown area where my children, and grandchildren (and also my husband), have attended a great neighborhood school - Sanborn School.
I agree with C.C. School District 15 reasons for building the proposed two new schools in order to meet the needs of the northeastern area of Palatine. However, I cannot vote for the referendum in its present form.
It would mean building two new schools at the expense of losing our oldest (and most historic) school in Palatine, Sanborn School. That school has been a vital part of our neighborhood and a reason for many families to buy homes here.
So I ask - can't the building plan be revised to include Sanborn (with all its history) as a part of a plan to move into the future? I need to vote NO to the District 15 referendum until more thought goes into its outcome.
