Kind of leader DuPage County needs

Jim Zay is the kind of leader that we need on the DuPage County Board. He's a problem solver who has a proven track record of improving our community.

Following the historic 2008 floods, Jim was instrumental in securing $12.5 million for the flood mitigation project in Armstrong Park. Through collaboration between DuPage County, Carol Stream and the Carol Stream Park District, two reservoirs were built in Armstrong Park that can store 37 million gallons of water from Klein Creek.

This new flood control system helps divert water from homes in the nearby neighborhood. In addition, this state-of-the-art project includes multi-use paths and many environmental benefits. This is just one example of the kinds of flood mitigation projects that Jim has overseen throughout the county.

In addition, Jim has led the effort to reform the DuPage Water Commission. As chairman, he cut the agency's budget and paid off $70 million in outstanding debt. He also reduced the water rate for the past two years. Most recently, the agency eliminated the quarter-cent sales tax, which is projected to save residents $36 million annually.

Jim deserves re-election for District 6. He has a proven track record of fiscal integrity, holding the lines on taxes, enhancing public safety, reducing the size of government and improving infrastructure around DuPage County.
