Wheeling brothers accused of kidnapping attempt
Two Wheeling brothers were ordered held on $50,000 bail each Monday on kidnapping charges involving a victim at a Prospect Heights strip mall.
Reynaldo Bello-Flores, 21, and Fernando Bello-Garcia, 24, could face up to seven years in prison if convicted of the felony.
Prosecutors say Bello-Flores made motions that suggested he had a firearm and pushed a man from behind about 80 feet to the side of a grocery store on the 600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. As Bello-Flores pushed the man past the store entrance, the man broke away and entered the store, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Mennie. Bello-Garcia then grabbed the man and pulled him out of the store, Mennie said. The man grabbed a glass bottle and struck Bello-Garcia, after which both brothers fled, Mennie said.
Police officers arrested Bello-Flores about a block away. Bello-Garcia was pulled over by Wheeling police officers on a traffic offense and DUI about two hours later, Mennie said.
Neither brother has any criminal background, Mennie said.
They next appear in court on Nov. 28.
