Owls topic of bird talk

"Natural History of Owls" is the topic at the Lake County Audubon Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Libertyville village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave. Ornithologist Steven Bailey will describe and discuss each of the eight species of owls that can be found in Illinois. The 90-minute session will include information on the owls' biology, ecology and occurrence in the state. Attendees will learn how to spot owls and hold and study owl feathers. Bailey has worked with the Illinois Natural History Survey for more than 20 years, specializing in breeding birds. He is currently involved with a long-term bird and plant monitoring program.
