Candidate with a moral compass

When I think about the kind of person who I want to represent me on an elected board, I look for the following characteristics - honesty, trustworthiness, a problem solver and someone who has a moral compass.

One candidate for the DuPage County Board, Jim Zay, possesses these characteristics and the leadership qualities that will best represent District 6 families.

I have known Jim for many years and can speak of his unending devotion to our community. As a fellow member of the Knights of Columbus, Jim is a man of faith and a man of action.

He believes in investing in our community. Through the Knights of Columbus, Jim raises money for Cupertino Home in Warrenville, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association and Special Camps. Together we volunteer at Hines VA Hospital, DuPage PADS and welcome home returning vets through Honor Flight Chicago.

Jim is also devoted to the next generation. He's well-known in athletic circles for serving as a youth baseball coach through the Carol Stream Travel Softball Baseball Association. As a coach, Jim not only teaches the fundamentals of baseball, but he also helps build the young athletes' self-confidence and problem solving skills as they learn how to work with others.

As we prepare for the Nov. 8 election, we need a representative who is devoted to our community; someone who has a track record of community service and fiscal responsibility.
