Police: Aurora teen with possible gang ties shot in Oswego
Oswego police are investigating the shooting of an Aurora teenager with possible gang ties, officials said.
Public information officer Cathy Nevara said police were summoned at 12:23 a.m. Saturday about a disturbance and shots fired near Tyler and Adams streets.
Officers found the 16-year-old Aurora boy on the ground with a gunshot wound. Nevara said police provided medical assistance to the teen until paramedics arrived.
Nevara said the boy suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and underwent surgery Saturday at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Investigators have found the teen possibly has gang ties and may have been targeted in the shooting, she said.
According to Oswego police, there were several people near Tyler and Adams when a fire began. They said they do not yet have leads on suspects in the shooting.
Oswego authorities are investigating the shooting with assistance from the Kendall County Criminal Intelligence Team.
