Girls tennis: Aurora Christian tandem claims 5th at state

The Aurora Christian doubles team of Shelby Johnson and Madelynn Jurasek finished in fifth place Saturday at the Class 1A girls state tennis tournament.

The Eagles' duo opened the day with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Audrey Jensen and Logan Kauble of Olney, then defeated Delanz Patel and Florence Almeda of Chicago U-High 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the fifth place match.

Johnson and Jurasek then defeated Latin's Eleanor Ruscitti-Maya Seymore 6-3, 7-5 to claim the fifth-place medals.
