Buffalo Grove fire Sunday damaged Caren Court home

A fire Sunday in Buffalo Grove heavily damaged one room and resulted in smoke damage throughout the house, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department reported Tuesday in a news release. No one was injured and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The department was called to the 1400 block of Caren Court 4:35 p.m. due to reports of light smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters discovered a substantial fire in the first-floor rear of the house, but were able to extinguish it. No one was inside at the time. Firefighters removed windows to ventilate the structure.

Fire damage was limited to the one room and heavy smoke throughout the house caused considerable smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
