Tuesday Morning Quarterback
Daily Herald Report
Name: Steven Arrowsmith
School: Benet
Year: Senior
Grunt bona fides: Playing the “3” technique on the interior of Benet's defensive line offers no glory, but Arrowsmith gladly accepts the challenge of taking on multiple blockers. The goal is to free up the linebackers behind him to make the tackles.
What makes you a “grunt” type of player: Just absorbing the double-teams on the line. We've got to do whatever it takes to hold that gap. No matter what.
Don't tell my coach that: We hate the “cans” drill.
If I could change one thing about football: Maybe create some way to get the linemen the ball more.
Team not on our schedule I wish we could play: I wish we played Neuqua Valley because when I was younger I went to school with a lot of those guys. I still live close to a lot of them.
How I'll celebrate if I score a TD: I don't think I'd celebrate. I wouldn't want to risk getting a penalty.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat: Probably Instagram, but I'm not a huge social media guy.
What I like best about my school: I like that academics come first. All the coaches are understanding about how important school work is to us.
Something about me that would surprise you: I really like the outdoors and hunting. I even have a hunting dog. She's pretty calm around the house but she gets excited when she's out there hunting.
Other sports I play: Baseball. That's what I hope to play at college.
Favorite actor: Chris Farley. I really like the movie “Tommy Boy.”
Favorite actress: I don't really have one.
Favorite athlete: (Houston Texans defensive lineman) J.J. Watt. Just watching him play with his explosiveness.
Favorite musician: Creedence Clearwater Revival. I just really like classic rock.
The stat
Wheaton North kept its playoff hopes alive with a 45-27 DuPage Valley Conference victory over Naperville Central despite the Redhawks' significant offensive advantages. Naperville Central outgained Wheaton North 452-293 in total yardage, had possession of the ball for 11 more minutes and notched twice as many first downs as the Falcons. The difference? Wheaton North took full advantage of a 4-1 advantage in turnovers.
The tweet
