Addison Trail keeps playoff hopes going
In its final regular-season home game of 2016, Addison Trail gave its fans quite a show.
Behind a 3-touchdown performance by Nicholas D'Ambrose on Friday, the Blazers defeated Proviso East 48-12 to keep their playoff hopes alive heading into Week 9.
"It was a good way to end the home season for a lot of different reasons," Addison Trail coach Paul Parpet Jr. said. "Most importantly for our seniors, who have put in the effort for four years. They deserve to go out this way. We talked before the game about making sure everyone got the opportunity to play and we did what we were supposed to do."
D'Ambrose rushed for 166 yards on 12 carries and opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 15-yard run to the end zone. He later added touchdown runs of 47 and 57 yards.
"Our O-line executed well again, as always," D'Ambrose said. "We knew what to do when we came out. We had a good game plan and the coaches prepared us.
"This was great for our seniors. We haven't had a good record at home this year. So it was good to have a game like this, particularly in the second half, where some seniors got to play who usually don't get a lot of plays. It was a fun game."
Quarterback Bobby Daniels also tossed 3 TD passes, connecting with Stevan Jones, Darrion Conrad and Andrew Parnell.
Christian Cici and Christopher Long had interceptions for the defense.
Addison Trail evened its record at 4-4, setting up a must-win next Saturday against defending state champion Glenbard West in Glen Ellyn.
"We have the weapons," Parpet said. "Our issue all year is we've been so inconsistent. Tonight we were not inconsistent. This is a good leapfrog into next week. Everything is on the line, we have to win to get in; we have something to play for. Going into Glen Ellyn, it's one of the best venues in the state. You can't ask for anything better and we will give it everything we've got."
