Goodman seeks high school girls for young critics program

Goodman Theatre seeks applications from "journalistically savvy and theater curious" high school girls for the Cindy Bandle Young Critics program.

A joint venture between Goodman and the Association for Women Journalists, the free program is named for Goodman's late press director Cindy Bandle, whose tenure spanned 20 years and more than 200 productions.

The program is open to girls in 10th and 11th grade from both Chicago and the suburbs. It's designed to help aspiring young writers develop their critical voices. Participants attend bimonthly Saturday workshops, interview Goodman artists and staff members for feature stories, and review Goodman productions. All of this takes place under the guidance of AWJ volunteer mentors.

The application is available at GoodmanTheatre.org/Engage-Learn and is due Oct. 21. The first session of the seven-month program is Nov. 5.
