Endorsements: Larsen, Zay in DuPage Dist. 6

Incumbent Republican Bob Larsen faces Democrat Michael Dobosiewicz for a four-year seat and incumbent Republican James Zay faces Democrat Laurie Nowak for a two-year seat.

Larsen of Wheaton possesses a firm command of the details of county business. He says the county must live within its means, and he supports governmental consolidation when it provides efficiencies, such as working with Kane County to share the juvenile detention facility — an effort he helped push.

Dobosiewicz, an IT consultant from Warrenville, supports flood mitigation and county control of the DuPage Convalescent Center.

Like Larsen, Zay strives to hold the line on the budget and supports consolidation and shared services. Zay of Carol Stream is a well-versed candidate who has worked to ease flooding in the western part of the county.

Nowak, a District 6 representative from 2012 to 2014, brings forward new ideas that often are beyond the scope of county government despite her experience on the board.

Larsen and Zay are endorsed.

District 6 covers all or parts of Carol Stream, West Chicago, Warrenville, Winfield, Naperville, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Glendale Heights, Roselle, Hanover Park, Bartlett, Wayne and St. Charles.

Democrat Michael Dobosiewicz, left, and Republican Bob Larsen are candidates for DuPage County Board District 6 (4-year seat).
