Bayh, Young Senate campaigns stock cash for final weeks

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana's U.S. Senate candidates have plenty of money to maintain their deluge of television commercials leading into the Nov. 8 election.

Democratic former Sen. Evan Bayh's campaign said Wednesday it had raised some $2.5 million between his entry into the race in July and the end of September, when it had more than $5 million in the bank.

Republican Rep. Todd Young closed some of Bayh's previous fundraising lead as his campaign collected about $3.4 million in the past three months, but trailed Bayh with $1.6 million in cash.

Outside GOP backers including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the billionaire Koch brothers have poured more than $10 million into the race. That has eroded Bayh's fundraising advantage as Republicans seek to hold the seat and their narrow Senate majority.
