Auto parts supplier to expand, hire 120 in southern Indiana
NORTH VERNON, Ind. (AP) - An auto parts supplier has plans to expand its operations in southern Indiana and hire another 120 workers.
Michigan-based Metaldyne Performance Group said Wednesday that it will spend more than $30 million to lease and equip a 32,000-square-foot facility in North Vernon. Construction is scheduled to start later this month with operations scheduled to begin in 2018. The new workers should be in place by 2019. The company already employs nearly 200 in North Vernon.
The state of Indiana offered the company up to $800,000 in performance-based incentives. The city also offered incentives.
The company makes components that are used in powertrain and suspension applications in industrial vehicles. It says it will use the space to increase production of powder-forged connecting rods, which are used to improve fuel efficiency.
