He was replaced in the field by Max Homa, who starred at Cal. ... Phil Mickelson, who management company runs the event, is playing a domestic fall tournament for the first time since the FedEx Cup began in 2007. ... In the three years that the PGA Tour has started in the fall, all three winners of the opening event have reached the Tour Championship. ... Mickelson and Matt Kuchar are the only players from the Ryder Cup at Silverado. ... Nick Watney returns to competition after sitting out the last eight months with a back injury. ... The field features 14 players who won PGA Tour events last year.

South Korean players have won the last three events on the LPGA Tour, and the nine victories this year are the most of any country. Thailand (Jutanugarn) is next with five. ... U.S. Women's Open champion Brittany Lang at No. 9 is the only American among the top 10 on the money list. ... This is the strongest field yet of the LPGA's Asia swing, with 17 of the top 20 players in the women's world ranking. ...
