Sign thieves steal First Amendment rights

Today I filed a police report. I have not before said those words out loud.

Today I walked out my front door to find the "Vote No for Now" sign posted on my front lawn as well as some on my front porch disappeared overnight. From my front lawn, From my front porch. My signs. My private property. My First Amendment right to free speech.

Who do you think you are that you think you can take away my right to free speech?

I am a private citizen. I paid for those signs with money I earned and pooled together with other private citizens to let my board of education as well as CCSD15 know I am not pleased with how they pulled together a plan for new schools and boundaries.

That's right. Private citizens paid for the "Vote No for Now" signs. Community members. People who have lived here for a long time and plan to be here for even longer.

People who want to do what is right for the community as a whole and understand we have the opportunity to do it the right way if we have the opportunity to not rush into a moving target plan with many gaps and holes.

I will vote yes when the plan is right, but that is not today.
