Why vote for reps who'll fight Rauner?

To those who voted for Bruce Rauner two years ago: What puzzles me is why you also voted for senators and representatives who have worked against Gov. Rauner.

You obviously wanted change when you voted for Rauner, but why did you send pawns of Madigan to help Madigan fight Rauner? If you really want change, vote for candidates who promise to work with Rauner.

He is not taking a salary or pension. Also, when he toured the governor's mansion and found it in disrepair, he used "private money," probably his own, to make repairs and make it fit to occupy, and unlike the two previous governors, he and his wife are living in it. The previous governors flew in the state private jet from Chicago to Springfield each day, costing $9,000 each trip.

Rauner wants to stop spending money we don't have, but the Madigan folks want to keep spending and raise taxes.

Rauner wants term limits. Madigan went to court before the election two years ago, and succeeded in keeping term limits off the ballot so we couldn't vote for it. Many of us signed petitions this year, to put an amendment proposal on the November ballot, to take away the General Assembly's power to draw legislative district boundaries. The Madigan people filed suit and succeeded once again in keeping that off the November ballot.

Ask the candidates running for the General Assembly if they will work with Rauner or Madigan. Ask if they will vote for term limits. This state election is one of most important in recent history. It may decide whether Rauner will succeed in turning this state around.

If he fails, then we might as well do what we seem to do best, and that's vote in a future felon for governor.
