Chicago man gets life for fatally shooting 2 teens in 2011

CHICAGO (AP) - A 28-year-old Chicago man convicted of killing two people at a Chicago fast-food restaurant five years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/2dW70hu ) Cook County Judge Matthew Coghlan on Thursday sentenced Arthur Chaney in the Dec. 27, 2011, shooting deaths of 17-year-old Dantril Brown and 16-year-old Jawan Ross. Chaney was given an additional 120 years for wounding five others in the shooting.

Prosecutors said Chaney fired 15 shots at members of a rival gang after jumping out of a vehicle.

Neither Brown, a student at Prosser Career Academy, nor Ross, a student at Robeson High School, were Chaney's intended target.

A jury convicted Chaney last month after a four-day trial.
