Theater events: Light Opera Works salutes Jule Styne

Jule Styne retrospective

Light Opera Works celebrates composer Jule Styne ("Gypsy," "Funny Girl," "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes") with a revue titled "Let Me Entertain You: Jule Styne's Greatest Hits." Artistic director Rudy Hogenmiller directs. Linda Madonia serves as music director and conductor. The cast includes Woodridge native Justin Adair, Larry Adams, Emily Barnash, Kelly Britt, William Roberts and Mary Robin Roth. Wayans bro at Improv

Shawn Wayans started as a resident DJ on Fox TV's "In Living Color" and went on to star in the WB's "Wayans Brothers" with his brother Marlon. 'Merge' premiere

The New Colony concludes its season with the world premiere of Spenser Davis' "Merge." Set in 1976, "Merge" is a comedy about a group of video game developers who find it difficult to toe the corporate line when their struggling company is bought by a giant corporation that requires employees to wear socks. Andrew Hobgood directs a cast that includes Buffalo Grove native Stephanie Shum. Previews begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago.
