Lake County's Leading Women's Philanthropy Group Announces its Signature 'Power of the Purse' Fundraising Event

LAKE COUNTY, IL (October 05, 2016) - United Way of Lake County's Women's Leadership Council (WLC) will host its 11th annual 'Power of the Purse' event on Sunday, November 6th, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Royal Melbourne in Long Grove. The event raises funds for local nonprofits in support of critical early literacy programs that will ensure the foundation for strong and successful academic futures for Lake County's most vulnerable children.

"Mobilizing the caring power of women, 'Power of the Purse' is our signature fundraising event that enables us to raise funds for our Little Kids, Big Futures Philanthropy Fund." says Judy Kotsiopoulos, WLC Event Chair. "In the last three years, nearly $135,000 has been granted to worthy nonprofits. This event will enable more children to be prepared for kindergarten and ready to succeed."

During the event, guests will enjoy a bountiful champagne brunch and an uplifting afternoon dropping the dice, spinning the wheel, picking the purses, buying the books and winning the wristlets. Celebrating the special women in their life and enjoying the day, WLC members and guests will sow the seeds of educational futures for at-risk children in Lake County.

The 'Power of the Purse' event is open to all ladies willing to celebrate womanhood, friendship and philanthropy. Join the Women's Leadership Council to make real change in the lives of Lake County's children today and in the future.
