U-46 honors Bartlett High for national recognition
Bartlett High School was honored by the Elgin Area School District U-46 board this week for its second consecutive silver medal designation U.S. News & World Report's annual list of best high schools.
The magazine awards high schools with gold, silver and bronze medals, using gold medals to reflect the greatest level of college readiness. In the 2016 edition, Bartlett High earned a silver medal, ranking 81st in Illinois and 1,974 in the nation.
The publication's 2016 list was developed using a college readiness index that considers performance on the 2013-14 Prairie State Achievement Exam, where 63 percent of students met or exceeded math proficiency standards and 66 percent of students met or exceeded reading proficiency standards.
The index also considers the percent of students passing at least one Advanced Placement exam, as well as graduation rates.
