Arlington Heights Food Drive Underway

Lavelle Law Charities' annual Arlington Heights Food Drive is now underway with food collection boxes set up at over 15 locations throughout town. The drive, which benefits the Wheeling Township Food Pantry, will run through November 17th.

"It's hard to believe but this is our 7th year of conducting this food drive to benefit those in need in Wheeling Township," said Food Drive Coordinator Jackie Lindert. "We are committed to serving the alarming number of families that need basic food supplies in this area." Sponsoring this year's drive are Centrella Foods and Rooney Landscaping.

The Arlington Heights Food Drive is designed to stock the Township Food Pantry shelves for the holiday season to assist individuals and families in need. "We hope to see the contributions grow again this year," said Lindert. She also noted that the Arlington Heights Park District will have donation boxes available at all of their sites in conjunction with their FOOD FOR THE SOLE (taking steps to end hunger) campaign to collect footwear for families in under-developed countries around the world. "It's a great partnership that provides a local and global view of how we can all help," said Lindert.

Suggested items include all non-perishable foods such as cereal, pasta, soups, canned fruits and vegetables, flour, sugar, coffee and items specific to families with young children such as diapers and formula.

For 2016, donations sites include: The Arlington Heights Police Station, 200 East Sigwalt, the Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 West Central, and many Arlington Heights Park District locations including Camelot Park, 1005 East Suffield, the Forest View Racquet and Fitness Center, 800 Falcon Drive, Frontier Park, 1933 North Kennicott, Recreation Park Center, 500 East Miner, Pioneer Park, 500 South Fernandez, Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 660 North Ridge, and the Park District Administration Center, 410 North Arlington Heights Road.
