Donated Spruce Tree Needed for 2016 Riverwalk Holiday Season

Each year the Naperville Park District seeks a donated spruce tree to decorate the Riverwalk for the December holidays. Ideally, the tree will be approximately 18 feet tall, symmetrically shaped, in good condition and in an accessible location within Naperville.

Interested donors may call Park District Park Operations Manager Chuck Papanos at 630-848-3590 or send an email message to cpapanos@napervilleparks.org . The Park District will cut the tree at the resident's home and transport the tree to the Riverwalk sometime between November 14 and 23, depending on the availability of the pole-setting truck provided by the City of Naperville.

In 2015, Naperville residents Bill and Nancy Boyk donated their 19-year-old spruce tree. "My wife and I realized the tree was getting too large for its location," explained Boyk. "We didn't want to just cut the tree down. We've always enjoyed Naperville's holiday decorations and thought it would be nice for the tree to end its life as part of the holiday decorations on the Riverwalk. We felt this would be a good place for the tree to be seen and enjoyed by many. We will certainly take pictures of it for our memory."
