Dinamo Zagreb player challenges 4-year doping ban at CAS

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Dinamo Zagreb player Arijan Ademi is challenging his four-year ban for doping in the Champions League at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

CAS says Ademi's appeal against UEFA will be heard on Oct. 28.

UEFA banned the 25-year-old Macedonia midfielder last November after he tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol after a 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Ademi played the full match last September. Dinamo's win in Zagreb stood because soccer's anti-doping rules do not overturn the result if only one player tests positive.

UEFA later defended the severity of the ban, saying it followed World Anti-Doping Agency guidance for "a first serious doping offence."
