Des Plaines Fire Department hosts open house

The Des Plaines Fire Department will be celebrating its 125th anniversary with an open house Saturday, at Fire Station 63, 130 E. Thacker St.

There will be a number of activities and demonstrations, including a technical rescue (11:45 a.m.), live vehicle extrication (1:15 p.m.), and a live burn scenario (2 p.m.), to highlight the importance of fire prevention and safety, said Public Education Officer Jim Utinans.

Fire department equipment and vehicles will also be on display and refreshments will be provided. The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
