Chirico beats Duan in opening round of Korea Open

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - Louisa Chirico of the United States advanced to the second round of the Korea Open with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Duan Ying-ying on Monday.

The eighth-seeded Chirico had eight aces to offset seven double faults and broke her Chinese opponent six times in the win.

Italy's Camila Giorgi defeated South Korean wild card Han Na-lae 6-3, 6-2, and Romania's Patricia Maria Tig overcame 12 double faults to outlast Marina Erakovic of New Zealand 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
