The Latest: Holcomb says most not worried over LGBT rights

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Latest on the Indiana gubernatorial campaign (all times local):

Republican gubernatorial candidate Eric Holcomb says he believes most Indiana residents have moved on from the debate over the state's religious objections law and whether to expand state civil rights laws to include sexual orientation.

Holcomb said in weekend interviews that the state has "gotten through" the national uproar over the law signed last year by Gov. Mike Pence. Opponents maintained it would've sanctioned discrimination against gay and lesbianss before GOP legislators approved revisions.

Holcomb tells The (Anderson) Herald Bulletin he believes the current law is working. He tells WXIN-TV he isn't focused on the LGBT rights issue and that voters rarely bring it up.

Democratic candidate John Gregg calls for the state to extend full LGBT civil rights protections. Gregg's spokesman says the rights issue remains a top worry of Indiana businesses.

Indiana Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg is deriding Republican candidate Eric Holcomb for not offering any plans for what he would do if elected to the state's top office.

Gregg toured an Indianapolis high school's career center Monday with Democratic state school Superintendent Glenda Ritz to highlight their proposals for improving vocational training programs around the state.

Gregg said afterward that Holcomb has offered only rhetoric on issues such as education and economic development since replacing Mike Pence as the Republican candidate for governor in July. Gregg says "there's nothing out there" on what policies Holcomb would push as governor.

Holcomb has said he wants to continue what he calls the state's progress under the past 12 years of Republican governors.
