More than 125 people search for missing St. Charles man

A search Saturday for a missing 43-year-old St. Charles man who failed to return home after a business trip drew more than 100 people.

Dane Haggerty was reported missing by his wife Friday. On Friday night, a St. Charles Park District Park Service officer located his vehicle at the Otter Creek Wetlands parking lot on Crane Road. His phone was in his car, Kane County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said.

Since Friday night, more than 125 people - including regional search teams, the sheriff's police, and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management staff - have been looking for Haggerty in the marshy, wooded area in and around Otter Creek Park. They searched all day Saturday, even with help of a helicopter and bloodhound dogs.

"We've done a pretty extensive search, but we haven't found him," Gengler said.

Police said they do not suspect foul play but are concerned that he may have harmed himself.

Haggerty is 6 feet tall, 215 pounds, and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and khaki pants.

Anyone with information should call the Kane County Sheriff at (630) 232-6840.
