Burglars raid Cyprus soccer team locker, steal boots, gloves
NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) - Cyprus police say burglars have raided the locker room of a first-division soccer team and made off with 70 pairs of boots and four pairs of goalkeeper gloves.
A police official, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday in line with police rules, said the Nike and Adidas boots, each valued at an estimated 200 euros ($225), as well as the 100-euro-a-pair gloves, were stolen sometime over the last two days.
Larnaca-based Nea Salamina said its training facilities were also vandalized during the burglary. The team didn't say what its players will don in its match with Aris Limassol on Sunday.
The team is last in the standings, with only a point from three matches.
Angry fans berated club officials after the team lost two matches heavily.
