The stock rose to its highest price in 10 months on reports of strong preorders for the new iPhones it introduced last week.
V.F. Corp., down $1.84 to $56.20
Retailers including the parent of North Face and Wrangler fell after the government said shoppers spent less in August.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., up $1.58 to $32.39
The tire maker raised its dividend and said it plans to return $4 billion to shareholders over the next few years.
Noble Energy Inc., up 5 cents to $33.92
Energy companies bounced back from two days of sharp losses as the price of oil rose.
Aerie Pharmaceuticals Inc., up $9.48 to $30.61
The company reported positive results from a late-stage trial of its glaucoma drug Roclatan.
Global Payments Inc., up $2.53 to $76.05
The electronic payment processor climbed following positive comments from analysts.
AMC Networks Inc., down $1.44 to $50.53
A Stifel Nicolaus analyst downgraded the company's stock because competition is growing and ratings for "The Walking Dead" may weaken.
Wells Fargo & Co., down 37 cents to $46.15
