Monsanto Co., up 66 cents to $106.76
The seed and weed-killer maker agreed to be bought by German drug and farm chemical company Bayer for $57 billion.
Ford Motor Co., down 24 cents to $12.14
The automaker forecast weaker results for this year and next as it invests more money in electric and autonomous cars.
Vitae Pharmaceuticals Inc., up $12.75 to $20.85
The dermatology drug developer agreed to be bought by Botox maker Allergan for $21 a share, or $606 million.
Nucor Corp., down 67 cents to $45.35
The steelmaker forecast a smaller profit than investors expected for the third quarter.
Murphy Oil Corp., down $1 to $25.14
Energy companies fell as the price of oil continued to slip.
Consolidated Edison Inc., up 90 cents to $74.13
Utility companies traded higher as bond yields dropped again.
Ruby Tuesday Inc., down 23 cents to $2.82
The restaurant chain said its CEO will leave the company after it disclosed weak first-quarter results.
