Self-appointed bishop from Pennsylvania indicted in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) - A federal grand jury in Chicago has indicted a self-appointed bishop of a Pennsylvania-based ministry for allegedly collecting wages and bogus travel-agent fees from church members.

A U.S. attorney's office statement cites the indictment as accusing Tracie Dickey of warning Deliverance Tabernacle Ministries International members that God would harm their families if they didn't comply with her orders.

Monday's statement says the 48-year-old from Pittsburgh faces wire fraud and labor trafficking charges. The illegal proceeds allegedly topped $400,000.

Dickey allegedly collected $280,000 in wages earned by four members of her ministry. The indictment says she also instructed church members to get hotels where they worked to pay reservation-commission fees to a purported travel agency run by Dickey.

Dickey's arraignment is Tuesday. It wasn't immediately known if she's retained legal representation. Telephone calls Monday to the ministry weren't answered.
