Batavia Fire Department marks 150 years with open house
Sept. 18 marks the 150th year of service for the Batavia Fire Department.
To commemorate this milestone, they will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Batavia Fire Station 2, 1400 Main St.
An opening ceremony begins at 11:15 a.m. with tours of the station and the fire department vehicles, Batavia ESDA vehicles and the Kane County EMA Command Van.
There will be a visit from Superior Air Med 1 medical helicopter at noon.
A vehicle extrication demonstration will be held at 12:30 p.m.
A side-by-side demonstration of the use residential fire sprinklers will begin at 1:15 p.m.
There will be informational booths from Tri-Com 9-1-1, Kane County Emergency Management Agency, Batavia Electric Department's Electric Town and more.
