Clarification: Obit-Times Square Kiss Woman story

NEW YORK (AP) - In a story Sept. 10 on the death of Greta Zimmer Friedman, The Associated Press reported that she was the nurse depicted in a photo kissing sailor George Mendonsa in Times Square at the end of World War II. The story should have made clear that while researchers believe Friedman and Mendonsa were in the photo, the identities of the pair have never been definitively established.
