Activist investment firm Starboard Value said it has bought 4.6 percent of Perrigo's stock.
Agrium Inc., down $2.57 to $92.64
Agrium said it will combine with competitor Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan to make the world's largest crop nutrient maker.
Colgate-Palmolive Co., up $1.92 to $72.78
Investors bought investments that they see as low-risk, including household goods companies.
Energy Transfer Partners LP, down $1.19 to $37.95
The federal government temporarily stopped construction of a pipeline the company wants to build.
HP Inc., up 54 cents to $14.49
The computer and printer maker agreed to buy Samsung's printer business for $1.05 billion.
Wells Fargo & Co., down 18 cents to $48.54
Banks lagged the market as investors tried to figure out if interest rates will start to rise soon.
Raptor Pharmaceutical Corp., up $1.53 to $8.98
Horizon Pharma said it will buy the rare disease drugmaker for $9 per share, or about $768 million.
Open Text Corp., up $5.38 to $65.15
The software company said it will buy a unit of Dell EMC for $1.62 billion.
