Hampshire-Henpeck HCE to meet Sept. 20

The Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will have an important meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Heartland Bank, Route 72 and Warner, Hampshire. Hampshire Village President Jeff Magnussen will be signing the unit's 2016 proclamation and proclaim Oct. 10-16 as HCE Week, in commendation of Kane County Association for Home and Community Education members for their dedication and commitment to the welfare of local communities in Kane County.

They also will be discussing the Christmas craft project. Hostesses for the September meeting will be Claudia Lake and Barbara Janicak. Stop by Heartland Bank Oct. 10-16 to see the Hampshire-Henpeck HCE display.

Plan to attend the Kane County open house at the Extension Office in St. Charles from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12. Meet with the officers and directors of Home and Community Education. The program will be a demonstration on Edible Arrangements, and attendees can take part in the Fine Arts/Crafts exhibition and judging.

The country of study this year is Ecuador. The County International/New Member Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Enjoy an Ecuadorean buffet lunch at La Humita Restaurant. Registration and fees of $30, which include bus service and lunch, will be due by Oct. 12. Guests are welcome. For information and to make a reservation, call Barb Mursu at (847) 683-2426.

The October meeting will feature a program by a senior nutritionist from Presence St. Joseph Hospital, as well as memory improvement activities.
