Lake County hydrant flushing to start this month

Lake County government officials have announced a semiannual fire hydrant flushing program for unincorporated areas will start this month. Lake County Public Works crews are expected to begin the task Monday, Sept. 19, depending on weather conditions. The process will be performed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and continue until all water mains throughout the systems have been flushed. The anticipated completion date is Oct. 21. Officials said there might be a slight discoloration of tap water after the flushing, but it is not considered harmful and will dissipate after a short time.
