No plane problems reported after crash into Indiana house

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Federal investigators didn't report finding any mechanical problems with a small plane that slammed into a home near a western Indiana airport, fatally injuring one person and badly injuring another.

A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says the single-engine Cessna plane clipped the top of a 50-foot-tall tree before hitting the house Aug. 25 near Sky King Airport a few miles north of Terre Haute.

The (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star reports (http://bit.ly/2cG4BGC ) 60-year-old John Trump died Saturday from his injuries, while 63-year-old Patrick O'Neill survived. Both were doctors at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

The NTSB report says both men were pilots and were in the front cockpit seats. O'Neill owned the plane and Trump was a potential buyer. The report doesn't include a potential cause of the crash.
