Hanover Park police promote three officers

In the wake of the retirement of former Hanover Park Police Chief David Webb and the promotion of Michael Menough to the top cop position, the department promoted and swore-in three officers to new positions earlier this month.

Joe Ciancio was promoted from lieutenant to deputy chief; Matt Riedel was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant; and Victor DiVito was promoted from officer to sergeant.

"It was a stress-free decision on my part, and that's due to the quality of the three officers we have up here tonight," Menough said.

Ciancio has been with the department for 26 years, is a Marine Corps veteran and has received the Hanover Park Leadership Award. Riedel has served 11 years with Hanover Park, has received 19 letters of recognition and has served as a field training officer. DiVito also has served as a field training officer, was the 2015 recipient of the department's Ahlstrand Award and has been with the department for eight years.
