Spectra Energy and Cepheid climb; 21st Century Fox slips
NEW YORK (AP) - Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily on Tuesday:
Spectra Energy Corp., up $4.85 to $41
Canadian company Enbridge agreed to buy Spectra for $40.33 a share in cash and stock, or about $28 billion.
Cepheid, up $18.11 to $52.53
Industrial and medical device company Danaher agreed to buy the diagnostics company for $53 per share, or about $4 billion.
Navistar International Corp., up $5.72 to $19.79
The bus, truck and engine maker announced a deal with a Volkswagen unit that includes an investment and a joint venture.
EOG Resources Inc., up $5.92 to $94.83
The energy company agreed to buy oil and natural gas company Yates Petroleum for $2.3 billion.
Monsanto Co., down $1.37 to $106.07
German health care and chemical company Bayer raised its bid for the seed company to $127.50 a share, or $55.8 billion.
Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., down 13 cents to $24.42
The company agreed to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by former Fox News Channel anchor Gretchen Carlson.
Lincoln National Corp., down $1.06 to $47
Banks traded lower after a survey showed weaker growth from U.S. service companies in August.
3D Systems Corp., up 83 cents to $15.75
3-D printing companies climbed after General Electric agreed to spend $1.4 billion to buy two European competitors.
