Learn about Mundelein police

Residents interested in learning about the Mundelein Police Department and how it operates are invited to participate in a police academy starting Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. Classes will run every Wednesday for 10 weeks, culminating with a graduation ceremony Nov. 16. Classes will be at the Mundelein Police Department, 221 N. Lake St. The village has offered the police academy since 2003. They provide an opportunity for residents who live and/or work in or near the village to become familiar with the department's day-to-day operations. Participants can gain a better understanding of the procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, demands, personnel, equipment, policies and laws that guide department decisions. For information, call officer Dan Schmidt or officer Sarah Ruffolo at (847) 968-4600. To apply for the academy, call Jenni House at (847) 968-3770.
