AgeOptions honors volunteers for their service

AgeOptions honored 48 volunteers from throughout the Chicago area for their service and dedication to older adults in their communities at the recent 41st Annual Luncheon and Volunteer Recognition. The event was sponsored by Mather LifeWays and CVS Health.

Twenty-seven of the volunteers were nominated by organizations in their communities, where they provide a variety of services for older adults. Also recognized were 21 volunteers who work in four AgeOptions programs: Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), Benefits Access, Take Charge of Your Health, Caring Together, Living Better, the Colbert Transition and Education program and Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)/Make Medicare Work (MMW).

Patricia Angelino of Elk Grove Village was nominated by the Sheila Ray Adult Center of Elk Grove Park District, where she has volunteered for 11 years. She has been president and vice president of the Advisory Board, and currently serves as mentor to the center's board secretary and board members. She is involved with fundraisers, is in the Ambassador singing group, knits and helps with bingo.

"AgeOptions and our partner agencies in communities throughout suburban Cook County appreciate the dedicated volunteers whose time and talents contribute so much to improving the quality of life for older adults," said Jonathan Lavin, president and CEO of AgeOptions, the Area Agency on Aging of suburban Cook County.
