Let consumers know how beef is fed
I would like a politician to pass a law labeling beef "Grass Fed" or "Grain Fed," All the beef products from steak to ribs to roasts are like trying to chew shoe leather.
I asked a farmer friend of mine what was the reason. He said they are promoting grass-fed beef and when they are fed grass instead of grain, the meat will be tough.
We pay six dollars a pound for sirloin and it chews like round steak. We used to pay that and get good Sirloin and other beef cuts.
If they are going to give us grass-fed, then reduce the price to $3 a pound - it's only fair.
Now if one of our politicians can get the labeling put into law, then we can choose "grain-fed" and let the grass-fed beef pile up in the coolers. Maybe then we can change this back to what it used to be by selling quality beef.
Right now, it is misleading to the consumer to think they are getting a good cut of beef, paying the high price and end up chewing shoe leather. I feel sorry for people with dentures.
Can someone please do something so once again we may enjoy tender steak?
