Tulsa linebacker named conference defensive player of week

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - University of Tulsa linebacker Trent Martin has been named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Martin was named Monday after leading the TU defense in a 45-10 opening game win over San Jose State on Saturday.

Martin had a team-high 11 tackles, including 1ˆ½ tackles for loss. He also tipped a pass that was intercepted by defensive lineman Jesse Brubaker and returned 24 yards for a touchdown.

Tulsa is on the road Saturday at Ohio State.
