Women's human rights advocate to speak Sept. 6 in St. Charles

The women of the Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia strive to support and empower women who are victims of trafficking, sexual exploitation and domestic abuse.

The Tuesday, Sept. 6, meeting will feature special guest Karen Schultz, executive director of Refuge for Women, a local organization providing aftercare for those who have been trafficked and sexually exploited.

Club members will gather at 6 p.m. in the upstairs room at The Office, 201 E. Main St. in downtown St. Charles.

A safe place has been created for residents to experience healing with few distractions. The key aspects of the Refuge for Women program are sobriety, healing from trauma, and rebuilding trust.
