New season begins for Art Institute associates

The Fox Valley Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago will start its new season of presentations.

There are events every month either in the Fox Valley or in Chicago from September to May.

The kickoff event will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Dunham Riding Club on Army Trail Road and Dunham Road in Wayne.

The topic will be art forgeries that have fooled the art community for decades. The presenter will be the Art Institute's Jeff Nigro, with more than 25 years of art history lecturing.

The lecture cost is $20; $40 with lunch. Membership is not required for this event.

The deadline to RSVP is Monday, Sept. 12. Make your check payable to the Art Institute of Chicago and mail to Fran Zollers, 1006 Crestwood Circle, St. Charles, IL 60175.

Membership for the remainder of the events would entail membership at the Art Institute, plus $25 for the Fox Valley Community Associates. For membership information, call Pat Rieger at (630) 377-1305.

Other events include a bus trip to the Art Institute of Chicago for lecture on "Contemporary Art at the AIC;" "The Painted Feast: Food and Dining in Art" at the St. Charles Country Club; "The Andy Warhol You Don't Know" at the Herrington Inn; "Jens Jensen: Landscapes for People" at the Riding Club; and many more interesting subjects.
