Germany striker Kevin Volland to miss Norway qualifier

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Germany striker Kevin Volland will miss his team's opening World Cup qualifier in Norway on Sunday after breaking the ring finger on his right hand.

Volland was injured in the 2-0 friendly win over Finland on Wednesday.

Liverpool defender Emre Can also will miss the Norway match because of an ankle injury. Midfielder Julian Draxler is recovering from the flu.

Germany coach Joachim Loew has decided to retain two under-21 players, midfielders Max Meyer and Julian Brandt, while releasing defender Niklas Suele.
