North Chicago man killed in crash

Waukegan police believe speed was a factor in a crash that killed a North Chicago man Thursday.

David C. Collins, 20, died in the crash at the corner of Crescent Avenue and Westmoreland Avenue.

Collins was traveling alone, police said, when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole at Crescent Avenue.

Investigators have yet to determine the speed of the vehicle at impact and said they expect to learn more from the car's black box.

Collins was driving a 2006 Chevy Impala and was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
