Scottie Pippen to help reopen Kmart in Des Plaines

Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen and local dignitaries will help cut the ribbon at 8 a.m. Saturday at the grand reopening of the Kmart store in Des Plaines.

Live entertainment begins afterward at 9 a.m., followed by food vendors and children's activities starting at 10 a.m. The Rise Challenge basketball dunk competition, the final stop on a nationwide tour of four top dunking athletes, is at 12:30 p.m.

The store, located at 1155 E. Oakton St., also will offer prize giveaways every 20 minutes.
